14th Annual Artists'
Soapbox Derby

Course:

Starting at the corner of Spring Street & Broadway in
the Rondout section of Kingston. Ending at the corner of West Union
Street & Broadway.

Entry Fee:

- $25.00 - T-shirts will be supplied to all pilots
- $10.00 - Additional shirts for co-pilots and crew
|

Rules:
|
- Soapbox must be powered by gravity and must be equipped with
suitable braking ability (must hold its own weight at top of hill
before start.) Must also have steering ability.
- Each soapbox must measure no more than 8 feet 7
inches wide, no higher
than 9 feet 11 inches (must fit under trees and finish line banner)
and must be no longer than 13 feet 8.5 inches.
- Your soapbox must be safe to yourself and to spectators. Please no
sharp objects protruding from vehicle. Extremely heavy vehicles
will be disallowed without the proper braking ability. You may not
start the race until you have passed the Official Safety Inspection.
- Each soapbox must have at least one driver but no more than three
co-pilots
- Pilots and co-pilots must wear approved bicycle helmets while on
board at all times.

Prizes:
|
Over $2,000.00 in cash prizes will be awarded for first,
second and third place finishes. The judging will be based on a
combination of creativity, engineering for both the youth and
adult divisions.
Gift certificates and other prizes will be donated by local businesses.
