16th Annual Artists'
Soapbox Derby

Course:

 Starting at the corner of Spring Street and Broadway in the Rondout section of Kingston - ending at the corner of West Union Street and Broadway. Two city block distance.

Sunday, August 22, 2010

Registration begins at 10:30 AM

Race starts at 1:00PM

Entry Fee:
  • $25.00 - T-shirts will be supplied to all pilots
  • $10.00 - Additional shirts for co-pilots and crew

Rules:
  1. Soapbox must be powered by gravity and must be equipped with suitable braking ability (must hold its own weight at top of hill before start.)  Must also have steering ability.
  2. Each soap box must measure no more than 8 feet wide, no higher than 10 feet (must fit under trees and finish line banner), and must be no longer than 14 feet.
  3. Your soap box must be safe (to yourself and to spectators). Please no sharp objects protruding from vehicle. Extremely heavy vehicles will be disallowed without the proper braking ability. (You may not start the race until you have passed the Official Safety Inspection)
  4. Each soapbox must have at least one driver but no more than three co-pilots
  5. Pilots and co-pilots must wear approved bicycle helmets while on board at all times.
