The next raciest artistic event in Kingston is scheduled for this summer on
Sunday, August 17, 2008
when the 14th Annual Artists’ Soapbox Derby
careens inexorably down Broadway towards the Rondout Creek.

This eclectic event is presented by Donskoj & Company Gallery and the City of Kingston
with sponsorship by WKZE Radio, Chronogram Magazine , Ulster Publishing  and Partsearch Technologies is featuring over $2,000.00 in cash prizes for our first, second and third place finishes in both the youth, family group and adult divisions.
Judging is based on a combined score of creativity and engineering.

This is not a race.

The first year’s event in 1995 attracted over 500 spectators for eight entries; while last
year’s event drew over 8,000 spectators for 42 entries. This year’s event should prove
to be even better than ever as there is plenty of momentum.

On your mark, get set and go start building your soapbox. If you wish to participate, sponsor
a soapbox, donate a prize or for more information call the Soapbox Derby hot line at
845-338-8473 or e-mail.

And remember, it is all down hill from here!
